dr. Jean-Christophe Victor

Dr. Jean-Christophe Victor is a political scientist focusing on international relations, he is the founder and director of LEPAC, the Centre for Political Studies and Cartographic Analysis, a Paris based “think tank”. He teaches geopolitics in France, in several foreign universities, and is the initiator and anchor of the weekly program “Le Dessous Des Cartes” (in Germany known as Mit offenen Karten) on TV5 and ARTE, which is dealing about international relations.

Victor holds a Ph.D. in anthropology, studied at the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations (Inalco) where he earned a Master in the Chinese language, and a Ph.D. in Defense and Strategy from the Sorbonne University. In 1975 he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a diplomat at the Embassy of France in Afghanistan Kabul. He worked as a policy adviser for NATO in Brussels and as an analyst for the Policy Planning Office at the French Ministry of foreign affairs.

He taught geopolitics at the War College (College of Defence) and the Sorbonne Paris 4. Currently he is focussing in delivering lectures at international seminars on foreign universities or at large private companies.

His most recent books on geopolitics are: “Towards a new Antarctica Treaty” 2007 , Paris; and “Atlas of a changing world” 2008, Paris, Berlin, Seoul, Tokyo. The LEPAC is now training international teams for corporate sector as Veolia, Vinci, Areva, British Petroleum, or public sector as RATP, Conseil de l’Europe or European Union.
